What is the CDMP?
The CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) is the leading global certification for data management professionals, awarded by DAMA International (Data Management Association International) — the independent, vendor-neutral body behind the data management profession.
It validates your knowledge across the disciplines defined in the DAMA-DMBOK (Data Management Body of Knowledge) — the recognized industry reference for how data is governed, modeled, stored, secured, and put to use. Rather than testing a single tool or vendor, it certifies your command of the field as a whole.
The exam at a glance
- The Data Management Fundamentals exam — the basis for all CDMP levels
- 100 multiple-choice questions, 90 minutes (110 minutes with ESL extension for non-native English speakers)
- Open-book: you may use the DMBOK during the exam
- Covers 14 topics — the 11 DMBOK knowledge areas plus Data Management Process, Data Ethics, and Big Data — each weighted by importance
- Taken online with remote proctoring, or in person at selected DAMA events
Certification levels
Your score on the same Fundamentals exam sets your level.
- Associate — 60%+ (core knowledge)
- Practitioner — 70%+ (with experience and specialist exams)
- Master — 80%+ (advanced, with experience and specialist exams)
